Scream if you want more 300.
Frank Miller is out doing publicity for The Spirit, but SuperheroHype also got him to talk a little bit about his other projects (no doubt much to the joy of the publicity folk trying to keep the focus on The Spirit).
First, Sin City 2. Will Mickey Rourke be back as Marv? Last week newly popular Rourke expressed some hesitation about returning to the role. Miller said, “He [Marv] has a pretty big role. I hope Mickey plays it.”
Does he want to work with Robert Rodriguez again or does he want to fly solo now?
“I hope to work with Robert. We’re talking it over and trying to work out the mechanics of actually getting it made. It’s always tricky with movies. I believe that a movie’s going to come out as soon as I see its name on a marquee.”
Good point–Sin City did okay at the box office, but it wasn’t such a huge hit that a sequel is a slam dunk.
Now regarding a follow-up to 300, Miller said:
“I’ve written a story that’s not a prequel,” he told us. “It’s definitely a further story in the Greco-Persian Wars, and it involves some of the same characters but I’m not sure exactly how far along it’ll get and again, until it’s on a marquee, I don’t believe in it.”
Ahh, this is a different story. Considering how much money 300 made, I think it’s safe to believe in a sequel
Miller also noted that there was a possibility that he’ll put out a comic book or graphic novel in advance of either or both sequels.
Much more about The Spirit to follow.
