Michelle Pfeiffer will play mom to Chris Pine and Elizabeth Banks.
The Hollywood Reporter says that Michelle Pfeiffer has joined the cast of “Welcome to People.” The film is written by Alex Kurtzman, who will make his feature directorial debut with it as well. Kurtzman is best known for his work as a writer with Roberto Orci on “Star Trek,” the “Transformers” movies, and the upcoming “Cowboys & Aliens.”
Michelle Pfeiffer will play the mother of Chris Pine and Elizabeth Banks. That is one good looking family. The downside is that if they’re supposed to be playing average, working class people, then they’re too good-looking. You can take the makeup off Pfeiffer and mess up her hair and there’s no disguising that she has the bone structure the camera loves, evenn now, decades after her luminous prime. I’m sure that’s the plan, though, if, indeed, they are not playing a family of movie stars. Well, here’s the story–it’s about:
“…a businessman who returns home after his estranged father’s death and discovers that he has an alcoholic sister with a 12-year-old son. He is forced to reexamine his own life while trying to form new bonds with his family.”
Olivia Wilde is also in the cast. Good heavens, I hope they can find it in their hearts to cast at least one ordinary-to-ugly person.
“Welcome to People” is set to begin shooting next week.
