Michael Fassbender Takes “Assassin’s Creed”

By Kirsten Anderson Casting

The lovely and talented Michael Fassbender will do some kind of travel back in time thing for "Assassin's Creed."

Michael Fassbender is an Actor with a capital A, but his participation in “X-Men: First Class” shows that he’s not afraid to mix a little action in with the Oscar bait movies. This is proven again with the news from Variety that Fassbender has agreed to star in “Assassin’s Creed,” the best-selling game Ubisoft. The video game company will produce the movie themselves.

I know nothing about the game other than that it must have sold a lot if even I have heard of it. Here’s a description of it from ComingSoon:

The original game involves a bartender named Desmond Miles, captured by a secret organization with ties to the Knight Templar who repeatedly send Miles back in time into the body of his assassin ancestors to retrieve valuable historical artifacts, the first time going back to the Crusades.

Ubisoft Motion Pictures CEO Jean-Julien Baronnet said:

“Michael Fassbender was our first choice. Michael (Fassbender) is an extremely smart, talented, versatile and committed actor.”

Indeed. Fassbender is also working on “Thirteen Years a Slave” for his frequent collaborator Steve McQueen, and is also booked for the “X-Men: First Class” sequel. “Assassin’s Creed” doesn’t have a writer or director yet, so it will probably be quite a while before this one gets off the ground.
