The Metal Gear Solid series has spawned three video games so far, with a fourth on the way, and one thing they all have in common is the incredibly cinematic feel they all have about them.
The upcoming fourth one, which is due out for the PS3 later this year actually has so many cut scenes, and audio dialogue, that the developers struggled to fit it all on to a Blu-ray disc.
So it’s no surprise that the one game that seems made for a movie translation looks to finally be getting one, maybe, who knows, it could happen but it might not.
Movie producer Michael De Luca is at least talking about the possibility. Talking about his new movie 21, in Las Vegas, he told ComingSoon.net about his desire to make it happen.
The writers strike was holding up progress, but now that is over, it seem he and Columbia Pictures are keen to get the ball rolling. But who could write and direct such an important video game based movie?
Step forward Kurt Wimmer, best known for Equilibrium, who De Luca said they hoped to meet with in the next few weeks to talk about writing the script, and hopefully directing as well.
I hope this project happens, and I hope they do a good job. I suppose I should at least be grateful that that mad German, Uwe Boll, the man who has ruined the credibility of game licenses, isn’t going to be involved.
