Melissa Leo Joins Hugh Jackman in “Prisoners”

Melissa Leo is teaming up with Hugh Jackman.

We have news from ComingSoon that Melissa Leo has joined the cast of “Prisoners.” Hugh Jackman is set to star and Denis Villeneuve is directing. Villeneuve is the Canadian director of the acclaimed “Incendies.” It looks like this is his first Hollywood production. Aaron Guzikowski wrote the script.

“Prisoners” is about “a small-town carpenter named Keller (Jackman) whose young daughter and her best friend are kidnapped. After the cops fail to find them, Keller takes the law into his own hands, but in the process runs up against Detective Loki, a hot shot cop with confidence to burn, assigned to the case.”

Is Leo playing this Detective Loki? Alas, no one seems clear on that. We do, however, know that Leo will next be seen in “Flight” with Denzel Washington, which will be unveiled at the New York Film Festival, then released with awards season hope. She also can be seen in the tiny indie “Francine,” which is so tiny and indie, well, you have trouble seeing it. Leo recently finished filming “Oblivion” with Tom Cruise for Joseph Kosinski.
