McConaughey As Captain America…As Soon As He Figures Out Who That Captain Dude Is

Matthew McConaughey, thinking hard.
MTV’s Splash Page says that Matthew McConaughey has expressed some interest in playing Captain America. When asked about it last year, McConaughey had not seemed enthusiastic, but now, apparently after finding out who and what Captain America is, he’s warmed up to the idea. How lovely.
McConaughey has apparently not been approached by anyone from Marvel or been in a serious discussion for the role–there isn’t even a script yet. Let me just say, though, well, heavens to Murgatroyd, let’s hope no one approaches him about it. I mean, how is anyone considering McConaughey for anything? He’s not much of an actor and not a big enough star to open a movie on his own. Seriously, whatever percentage his manager and agent are getting isn’t nearly enough, because they’re miracle workers. McConaughey gets cast way more than his talent or looks deserve. Don’t mean to pick on you, Matt, I’m sure you’re a very nice person, but I just mean from a professional pov, I don’t get it.
Anyway, back to Captain America–the Captain is not only set for his own movie, “The First Avenger: Captain America,” but also is an integral part of the Avengers movie planned by Marvel. “First Avenger” is set for a July 22, 2011 release and “The Avengers” is planned for May 4, 2012.

Jesus, first a short ugly dork as tall, handsome billionaire playboy Tony Stark and now this vapid pretty boy as the embodiment of everything that’s good and heroic about America? Joe Simon and Jack Kirby would spin in their graves.
