Au revoir, Mads.
Rumored, now NOT true. We’d heard a few months ago that Mads Mikkelsen was in talks to play the villain in “Thor 2,” but now we have word from The Playlist that it just didn’t work out. Mikkelsen has been cast as the lead in NBC’s series “Hannibal” and the commitment to that made it impossible for him to do “Thor 2.” This comes just a few days after we heard that David Slade had stepped away from directing “Dared to focus on directing the “Hannibal” pilot. Damn you, Hannibal Lecter, how many more victims lives, or movies, must you destroy?!
So “Thor 2″ still needs a bad guy. The search is back on for some Eurovillain type. Come on, Scandinavia, give us your best. Come on up, France and Spain. All elegant, slightly sinister, impressively accented types will be considered.
“Thor 2″ will be released on November 8, 2013. It stars Chris Hemsworth, Natalie Portman, Tom Hiddleston, Jaimie Alexander, Idris Elba, Zachary Levi, and Stellan Skarsgard. Alan Taylor directs.
