Maybe the new badass Liam Neeson of Taken will turn the tables on John Wilkes Booth in Spielberg’s Lincoln.

ComingSoon, via The Hollywood Reporter, notes that Steven Spielberg is all excited about his long-mentioned Lincoln biopic. At the Golden Globes, Spielberg said it was “coming together really fast.” The long-planned picture is supposed to star Liam Neeson as the 16th president.

Then CS caught up with Neeson, who’s out doing pub for his action/suspense/family crisis drama “Taken.” Informed thatĀ Spielberg said the film was “coming together,” Neeson seemed, well, surprised…and ill-informed. He said:

I don’t know (anything) other than what you know,” he admitted. “He asked me four years ago would I play this part and I most certainly said I would. He’ll do it whenever he’s ready to do it, but it’s in the works.”

Neeson said he didn’t know what period of Lincoln’s life the film would coverĀ (though putting money on the Civil War period is probably a pretty safe bet). Nevertheless, he remains game and no doubt will figure it all out once the cameras start rolling. I mean, he doesn’t deserve to see a script in advance, right? He’s just a f******ng actor, who cares what he thinks? I only kid because I love, Liam. And I’d love to see you in this part.
