In demand Liam Neeson has every right to be confident.
Deadline reports that Liam Neeson has joined the cast of “Battleship.” Peter Berg is directing the big screen scifi interpretation of the classic “You sunk my battleship!” game. Neeson will play Admiral Shane, whose daughter, played by Brooklyn Decker, is engaged to Taylor Kitsch’s young Naval officer character. Alexander Skarsgaard plays Kitsh’s brother, and Rihanna plays a weapons specialist.
The funny thing is that Deadline says the movie starts shooting today, but last week ComingSoon posted pictures of Rihanna in costume, and Tim Ryan’s Reel Hawaii blog has pictures of some of the scenes they shot last week, mostly big set pieces. Oh well, nitpicking.
Neeson continues to ride the wave of popularity created by his action hero turn in the extremely profitable “Taken.” No one blames him for “The A-Team.”
Can you imagine the phone call from his agent (good heavens, that’s a great gig right now) about this? “Hello, Liam, how does this sound? You play a supporting role, a naval officer who’s the father of bikini model Brooklyn Decker. It’s not a huge amount of work. Oh, and did I mention it’s shooting in Hawaii? Great, I thought you’d say that. Let’s get the schedule and make you some flight reservations.”
Perhaps I’m just overchanneling my own desire for a trip to Hawaii.
