Look, Ghost Rider is back.
Dave helpfully alerted you to the most anticipated movies of 2012, but what about the movies that make you say, “Why? WHY?” Well, here’s a list of the movies you are not looking forward to and in fact are probably hoping to avoid. Thanks for the reminder of the grimness that lies ahead from Screen Junkies.
“American Reunion” – Were these characters THAT beloved? Has anyone really missed them that much?
“Battleship” – This movie cost so much money that the people who may be least looking forward to its release are the producers, because it has flop written all over it.
“Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance” -It’s already rumored to be worse than the first movie, but it’s in 3D this time. So that’s another dimension of badness coming at you. You may want to see it if you’re hoping for some laughs at a few overwrought Nicolas Cage moments.
“Journey 2: The Mysterious Island” – “Journey to the Center of the Earth” wasn’t a good movie, but it came out in the first wave of excitement about 3D and did well enough to justify a sequel. Brendan Fraser refused to make the second movie because his director from the first was too busy making “Yogi Bear” and the studio wouldn’t wait for him. Instead we have Dwayne Johnson, Michael Caine, and Josh Hutcherson pick up paychecks here.
“Resident Evil: Retribution” – I hesitated to put this on the list because obviously these movies have been making enough money that it’s worth everyone’s while to keep cranking them out. But if one wasn’t released this year, would anyone care?
“Scary Movie 5″ – Another franchise that lurches back at us like a zombie. A really played out, overdone zombie.
“Step Up 4″ – Someone wants to dance, but something is getting in their way. Hopefully someone will step up.
“The Three Stooges” – I know it’s a passion project for the Farrellys, but they’re the only ones who care.
“The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 3D” – Hey, he’s chainsawing someone. The pieces of body parts are flying right at you. Awesome.
“Underworld: Awakening” – This is another of those franchises that no one really seems to care about but someone must be going to see because they keep making the damn movies.
