Candles! Lots of candles!
For better or for worse, the live-action adaptation of the animated series “Avatar: The Last Airbender” is well underway. And remember, it’s called just “The Last Airbender” because a little James Cameron movie called “Avatar” is beating it to the theaters (and has been filming since the days of black and white and the silents, so it’s claim on the title is really rock solid. I can’t wait to see the long-heralded performances by Lillian Gish and John Gilbert). I say for better or worse because people I know who are fans of the show haven’t been happy with much of the casting (the cast includes Noah Ringer, Nicola Peltz, Jackson Rathbone, Dev Patel, Aasif Mandvi, Shaun Toub), or in some cases, the director (M. Night Shyamalan).
The teaser trailer has debuted, though, so fans (both angry and non-angry) can get a glimpse. Here you go.
