Kurylenko, Riseborough Join Cruise Scifi Film

Andrea Riseborough will rock Tom Cruise's world.

Tom Cruise has been a lonely Last Man on Earth in Joseph Kosinski’s currently untitled science fiction project (once known as “Oblivion”), but now it looks like he finally has some female company. Deadline reports that Olga Kurylenko and Andrea Riseborough have been cast as the two female leads.

Cruise plays, as noted, the last man on earth, who’s there to fix robots that fight a nasty alien race. He lives with a woman and everything’s fine (though one would think rather boring) until another woman crash lands on the planet, goes on a journey with him and “makes him question his role on the planet.” I’m not sure–maybe, “Wait, there are other women out there I could be sleeping with? Even possibly sexy alien types?” No insider knowledge, I’m just guessing.

Riseborough is playing the crash-landing visitor and Kurylenko is playing the woman Cruise is doing time with on the planet. I would have thought it would be the reverse, but nevertheless. Riseborough has “Wuthering Heights” at Sundance this month, and is currently hiding on screens in “W.E.” Kurylenko will next be seen in the “Untitled Terrence Malick Project” starring Rachel McAdams, Ben Affleck, Rachel Weisz, Jessica Chastain and others. Kurylenko needs a movie with a title soon or we won’t be able to find her.

The plan is to shoot the film in March, after Cruise finishes “One Shot.” He’ll be seen in theaters this spring in “Rock of Ages.”
