Kat Dennings Joins “Thor” (At Least According To Natalie Portman)

Natalie Portman says Kat Dennings is going to be in ”Thor.” Natalie, you wouldn’t lie to us, would you? 

Maybe Natalie Portman isn’t supposed to be announcing this kind of thing, but we sure appreciate her spilling the news to MTV’s Splash Page that Kat Dennings has joined the cast of “Thor.” Portman told MTV:

“Well I’m really excited. Kat Dennings is going to be in it with me and she’s a good friend and an amazing actress, so I’m looking forward to that.”

No word on who Dennings would play, and I surely am not enough of a Thor expert to take a guess. Splash Page writer suggests the Enchantress. His guess is a thousand times better than mine, so maybe we should just run with that for now. Unless you have another idea?

I should also note the incredible overstatement in the Splash Page post. The writer says Portman dropped a “casting bombshell” and that Dennings’ arrival would be “huge news.” Is it? I mean, she’s a nice young actress on the up and come, but is it really that shocking that she would take a presumably second lead or supporting role in a big comic book adaptation? I mean, it would be a surprise if, say, we suddenly found out Meryl Streep was coming aboard or that both Olsen twins would be appearing in it, or that Kristen Stewart and RPattz were taking part. But does Kat Dennings potential casting qualify as earthshaking? My earth just isn’t shaking.
