Karen Allen played Indiana Jones love interest in the first film in the series, Raiders Of The Lost Ark, in 1981. However, for reasons unknown to anyone, she didn’t appear in either of the two sequels which quickly followed. However, she’s now back, playing Marion Ravenwood again in the new film, Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull.
The actress went on to forge a new career as a fashion designer, but when Stephen Spielberg rang last year to ask if she wanted to appear in the new film, she jumped at the chance to revisit her role in one of the biggest movie franchises ever. Digital Spy reports her as saying:
“There had been a rumour for many, many years that they were trying to find a script everybody was going to be happy with.”
“I would get little bits of information from time to time, usually rumour-mill kind of stuff, but I hadn’t heard anything for a long time. I had no idea when they finally got a script that my character was back.”
Allen also spoke a little bit about the plot of the new film, although she refused to answer the speculation that the character played by Transformers star Shia LaBeouf is hers and Indy’s love child:
“As the film begins, they haven’t seen each other for a long time, and suddenly, they’re thrust back together. They kind of pick up from where they left off. A few bumpy roads have passed between them since then that they have to work out with each other.”
“You’ll have to wait and see.”
It’ll be nice to see Allen back, as having just re-watched Raiders Of The Lost Ark, I thought she did a brilliant job, and the on-screen chemistry between her and Harrison Ford was nicely played out.
Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull opens worldwide on May 22.
No matter how hard work Karen Allen has done as one of the most dynamic female action heroine icon diva whom overcome with so much success, you have to wondered yourself how is she able to counter her accomplishments to be back onto the screen as a new improved Marion Ravenwood in Indiana Jones and The Kingdom Of The Crystal Skull . Well you have to imagine she hasn’t changed since Raiders Of The Lost Ark, she’s much older and more wiser than Harrison Ford as Indy of course but I think Karen Allen has proven to her fans time and time again you have to enjoy the ride from each moment or days and knowing that it’s fun meeting the cast and director Steven Spielberg and George Lucas while working with them again . However watching how Karen Allen’s has taken control of certain situations like running from these Russians with both Mutt, Oxley and Indy and going into the quick sand and she told Indy about her secret of Mutt who is actually his son named Henry Jones Jr.III and doesn’t know it until now . Driving two vehicles at once was pretty amazing to see how well Marion’s driving mode is these days especially when she got a chance to show everyone how to drive this kind of car that looks like a boat 457 model Russian going full throttle into the water rapids and then dropped three times while Indy himself given her the directions of turns come on now . But I think my favorite part of this movie is when they all have to run down these difficult stairs themselves including Karen’s physical training of putting a lot of power and strength as well as full confidence within Marion Ravenwood to do her own stunts without using a double person as a stand off . I think there’s no one else in Hollywood who can be in better shape at the age of 56 who can become more physical and capable of doing something outrageous like being in this particular movie Indiana Jones and The Kingdom Of The Crystal Skull . I have to admit though when I saw Karen Allen onto the screen, I was like no way she is able to conquer her fears of making any type of action movie as an actress but now seeing on what she is now makes a whole lot of difference at hand . I think she should continue to make more action and comedy movies within the future again hey it’s fun to watch on what Karen can provide and being more active involved putting her in a story like Indiana Jones trilogy has made her a national female action icon diva in my book ! I say way to go Karen Allen you go girlfriend !
