A Justice League movie? Yeah, well, maybe.
In August 2008, I wrote a post titled ” Justice League News! Filming to Begin Next Year!” Umm…it didn’t happen. Then in March 2011, I wrote “Return of the Justice League movie?” Yeah, that also didn’t work out.
So here we are again, June 2012, and once more I write, with the greatest of optimism, that Variety tells us Warner Brothers is trying to move the Justice League movie forward. They have booked Will Beall, who wrote the upcoming “Gangster Squad” to write the script.
Considering the success of “The Avengers,” can you blame WB for wanting to get its act together for a multi-superhero movie? Now if they do it, will they try to build it by weaving together elements of the League and different characters into bits of stand-alone superhero movies? Will we see a Justice League tag at the end of “The Dark Knight Rises?” Probably not at this point, but “Man of Steel” next year? Maybe. Would Christian Bale, seemingly finishing the Batman story in TDKN, return to the character for a Justice League movie? Would WB put money into a “Green Lantern” sequel, despite the first film’s flop, in order to help create the Justice League universe? Now that would be an interesting move.
Well, we’ve seen this before, so don’t get your hopes up, DC fans…
