Julia Roberts: Hothouse Flower

Julia Roberts, as if you didn’t know.

Julia Roberts continues to keep busy, signing up to produce and star in an adaptation of Hothouse Flowers, a yet to be released novel by Margot Berwin. Joe Roth, along with Suzanne and Jennifer Todd, are also producing. No director is listed yet, and of course there is no writer. Because they’re striking, as you may have heard.

The Hollywood Reporter describes the project this way: “Roberts will play a recently divorced woman who is dissatisfied with her job at a Manhattan ad agency and goes off on an adventure that takes her to places she never expected to go.” The book, btw, is expected to be released in spring 2009.

(I had no idea who Margot Berwin is, but THR calls her a “Nerve.com writer,” so that may tell you a lot more about the book than the above description.)

Roberts just finished shooting Fireflies in the Garden. Next up for her is the intriguing Tony Gilroy project, Duplicity, with Clive Owen, Tom Wilkinson, and Billy Bob Thornton.
