Jonze Not Wild About Studio, But Things Aren’t Too Bad

Will we ever see it?
Here’s a little item that slipped in at the end of last week, amidst all the holidays and big movie releases. Page Six of the New York Post had this info about Spike Jonze and his relationship with Warner Brothers during this whole hashing out of whose Where the Wild Things Are vision will prevail:
SPIKE Jonze is opening up about his relationship - not with Michelle Williams but with Warner Bros. The director of “Where the Wild Things Are” butted heads with the studio in postproduction. “In the end, they let me finish my movie,” he tells Rolling Stone. But “the editing process wasn’t always fun . . . It’s like a couple that’s been fighting and going to counseling. What matters now is that we made it through all of that.” He added, “There was definitely a point in time when [Warner Bros. was] sleeping on the sofa.”
I looked all over Rolling Stone’s website but didn’t see this interview. Is it only in print? Anyway, I guess he’s saying that despite all the rumors about total reshoots and fighting etc, they’ve managed to somehow meet halfway….Is there a release date for this movie yet? As noted last summer, the film had seemed to disappear off WB’s schedule. Okay, IMDB is now listing it as October 16, 2009.
Also, if you didn’t see it before (and I just found it today) AICN did a super interview with Jonze about the movie, which is particularly nice since I can’t seem to find the Rolling Stone one mentioned in the Post snippet; to be honest, the RS one probably sucks in comparison. Then again, it IS Page Six, which means that Spike Jonze may once have mumbled something about his movie while walking past a stone in Prospect Park. I’m just saying.
