Jones, Kruger, Get to Know “Unknown White Male”

January Jones gets to leave 1960s Westchester for 21st c. Berlin.

Variety reports that January Jones and Diane Kruger have joined the cast of “Unknown White Male.” Liam Neeson stars, with Jaume Collet-Serra directing a screenplay written by Oliver Butcher, Stephen Cornwell and Karl Gajdusek.

What’s the story and who’s doing what? Variety says Neeson will play “a man who awakens from a coma to find that someone else has assumed his identity, and no one, including his wife, believes him. With the help of a young woman, he sets out to prove who he is. Jones will play Neeson’s wife, who gets caught up in a conspiracy regarding her husband. Kruger will play a Berlin taxi driver and Neeson’s unexpected ally.”

Jones and Kruger are both beautiful blondes who are actually almost identical looking in some pictures. I’m assuming that was some of the logic in the casting. Jones is remarkably hot (as in wanted for casting, but I’m sure  many men would agree that she is also hot in another sense of the word) due to her star turn in the cable series “Mad Men,” which tends to have much more buzz than viewers, but is critically beloved. Kruger starred in last summer’s “Inglourious Basterds,” and has been in the “National Treasure” movies, but has otherwise seemed to have had a peculiar career, as if she kind of works only every so often when she feels in the mood. I’m sure she’s a lovely person, but I get the feeling she didn’t spend her summers sweeping floors and painting sets at the local theater, if you know what I mean.

Neeson has always worked steadily but has been getting an extra dose of casting this year after he starred in the medium-budgeted, highly profitable “Taken” last winter, which also gave him some badass action hero cred. The man’s been making movies for three decades now, and he just keeps getting better.

“Unknown White Male” is set to start shooting in Berlin in late January.
