Johnny Depp will do something in "Transcendence."
Okay, we have an announcement from Alcon Entertainment that Johnny Depp has signed on to star in “Transcendence,” the directorial debut of cinematographer Wally Pfister. He won an Oscar for his work on “Inception,” and in fact has worked on seven films with Christopher Nolan. His lengthy list of credits also includes “Moneyball” and “The Italian Job.”
The script for “Transcendence” was written by Jack Paglen. Christopher Nolan and Emma Thomas are producing, so it should be no surprise that the plot is being “kept under wraps.” So with a title like “Transcendence,” what might it be about? Well, that’s an easy one–it’s obviously a biopic of Ralph Waldo Emerson, 19th century essayist and leader of the Transcendentalist Movement.
Depp next stars in “The Lone Ranger,” a project that seemingly went on forever, but will finally be released on July 3, 2013 (well, we think it will). He was seen last spring in “Dark Shadows,” which didn’t go well.
