Jessica Simpson could be being lined up to play Sandy in a new remake of Grease, at least according to Michelle Pfeiffer. Simpson, who I have only really seen act (if you can call walking around with not many clothes on acting) in The Dukes Of Hazzard (Pictured above) is reported to be on the verge of signing the contract.
The role of Sandy, a high school nerd who gets transformed in to a vixen by her association with Danny Zuko and the T-Birds, was originally played by Olivia Newton-John, and Jessica Simpson would have some big shoes to fill. Pfeiffer meanwhile starred in the less successful Grease 2 in the early 80s but has been asked to appear in the remake as the Rydell High school principal.
“It’s a great idea and I hear they would like to get Jessica Simpson for the role of Sandy. She would be good. I would love to play the school principal. She is fun and has some great put-down lines. I think I would like the part now that I have been asked.”
With the success of the High School Musical films, a remake of the original inspiration for the series should do well at the box office.
