Christopher Nolan’s “Interstellar” is getting a pretty stellar cast. Matthew McConaughey and Anne Hathaway were already set to star, and how word comes from Deadline that Jessica Chastain is in talks to join in the fun in a third leading role.
As always with a Nolan movie, everything is top secret. We do know a little more about this one than usual, though, because it started out as a Spielberg project. Years ago, Spielberg got the idea that he wanted to do a movie based on physicist Kip Thorne’s work regarding the existence of wormholes in space and how they could be used for time travel. Jonathan Nolan wrote a script, but eventually Spielberg dropped out. Then Christopher Nolan came on board to direct; they’re putting together a new script that will incorporate an idea from Christopher into the script by Jonathan. Deadline says “The ambition is a film that will depict a heroic interstellar voyage to the farthest borders of our scientific understanding.” So…alll we know is that Chastain may be doing something heroic in space. Sounds fun.
Chastain is currently filming an adaptation of “Miss Julie.” She’ll also be seen in the dual movies “The Disappearance of Eleanor Rigby:His/Hers.” She also recently booked a leading role in “The Zookeeper’s Wife.”
