Jason Bateman & Ryan Reynolds Swap Bodies For ‘The Change-Up’

Jason Bateman and Ryan Reynolds

Here’s an on-screen pairing I never imagined seeing: Jason Bateman and Ryan Reynolds. Bateman is a comic genius who usually portrays characters on the uglier side of life, while Reynolds is a rom-com cavalier with an eye for the ladies. Then again, maybe the distinct differences between the two actors is why this movie could just work.

That’s because the movie in question is The Change-Up and is the latest in the ever-burgeoning body swap genre. You know the drill – two people swap bodies and lives for some reason and by some strange manner, and we get to see what happens.

This has been done many times before, of course. Freaky Friday, Face/Off, and Like Father Like Son are the best examples. And you can easily add the age swap movies such as Big, 17 Again, and 13 Going On 30 into the mix as well. But The Change-Up looks to have a good pedigree behind it.

Not only are the lead roles taken by two versatile actors who I enjoy seeing on screen, the script is by Jon Lucas and Scott Moore, who last year gave us The Hangover, and the film is set to be directed by David Dobkin, who helmed the underrated (in my opinion at least) Wedding Crashers.

According to MTV Movies, shooting is set to begin in September and I think The Change-Up could prove to be a surprise hit upon release.
