Jamie Foxx Nominated for “White House Down”

Call him Mr. President.

No, not nominated for an award–I mean Deadline says that Foxx is in talks to play the President in the White House in jeopardy action drama “White House Down.” Washington D.C. disaster impresario Roland Emmerich is directing James Vanderbilt’s script.

As you may be able to guess from the title, this is a movie where the White House is under attack. Channing Tatum will play a Secret Service agent who tries to rescue the president. I bet he succeeds. What do you think?

There is, by the way, a similar project called “White House Taken,” originally titled “Olympus Has Fallen.” Apparently they felt that the poster wasn’t going to be able to make the plot clear enough. By the way, the plot is about the same as “White House Down,” starring Gerard Butler in the Tatum role. And both are being described as “Die Hard in the White House.” We’ll see if both make it to production.

Foxx has been filming “Django Unchained” for Quentin Tarantino. The trailer was released yesterday:

What do you think? If nothing else, I love that green jacket Foxx wears after he’s all fixed up by dandy bounty hunter Christoph Waltz. And Leo looks like he’s having fun.
