Here’s a question for you: If you were a Hollywood A-List actor, would you choose a comedy which sees your character become an Avon man, or would you choose to play Wolverine for the fifth time in a new X-Men movie guaranteed to be a global hit? A tough one, eh.
No, not really. If we’re honest. Because I think we’d all choose the latter. Which is exactly what Hugh Jackman has done, reportedly dropping Avon Man in order to get started on the X-Men Origins: Wolverine sequel.
According to Deadline New York, Jackman will go straight from shooting Butter to getting in shape to portray Wolverine on the big screen once more. The latest X-Men Origins movie is now set to start shooting early next year, leaving no room in Jackman’s schedule for Avon Man.
Avon Man was originally going to start shooting in the spring, but that was moved to October in order to give Jackman a chance to star. But he’s now dropped out altogether. Jackman will remain as producer, and is thought to be assisting in the search for a new male lead.
X-Men Origins: Wolverine 2 (not an official title) will see Wolverine journey to Japan, fall in love, and fight some ninjas. Which should be fun. Avon Man, meanwhile, tells the tale of a laid-off auto worker taking a job with Avon and finding its not as emasculating and dreadful as he’d feared.
