Jack Ryan Movie Gets Release Date

By Kirsten Anderson Movie News

Chris Pine will be in a movie about Jack Ryan on Christmas Day 2013.

So about five years after they first began talking about a new Jack Ryan movie, the new film about the Tom Clancy character is finally happening. Paramount has announced that the next Ryan movie will be released on December 25, 2013. Chris Pine stars as Ryan, with Kevin Costner and Keira Knightley also in the cast. Kenneth Branagh directs and will also play the movie’s villain.

We know of two other movies set for that date, Ben Stiller’s “The Secret Life of Walter Mitty” and “47 Ronin” with Keanu Reeves. The latter feels like it’s been postponed a million times so I wouldn’t be surprised if it moves again. The specter of “The Hobbit: There and Back Again,” released on December 13, will no doubt still be looming over the box office.

The Ryan character has appeared in a number of other movies: “The Hunt for Red October” (played by Alec Baldwin), “Patriot Games” and “Clear and Present Danger” (Harrison Ford) and “The Sum of All Fears (Ben Affleck).

So the movie has a cast and a release date. Now all it needs is a title. Please. Soon.
