Is Black Zero coming to a theater near you?
We know Superman’s nemesis in “Man of Steel” is General Zod, but could there also be another villain hidden in the movie? ComingSoon has this list of upcoming DC and Marvel LEGO sets from Brickset:
76000 Arctic Batman vs. Mr.Freeze – Aquaman on Ice
76001 Batman vs. Bane – Chase with Tumbler
76002 Superman Metropolis Showdown
76003 Superman Battle of Smallville
76004 Spider-Man – Hunting with Spider-Cycle
76005 Spider-Man – Mission at Daily Bugle
76006 Iron Man Extremis 76008 Iron Man vs Mandarin
76009 Superman Black Zero Escape
So yeah, what’s up with that last one? Black Zero is a character who first appeared in the Superman universe in 1968, and has appeared in several variations since, including a run as a dark side alternate to Superboy. Is it possible that Black Zero shows up in a Marvel style end credits scene to set up a sequel where he’s the main villain? Well, yes, it’s certainly possible, but doesn’t it seem strange that they’d do another Superman movie without Superman’s most famous rival, Lex Luther? It would be as if Christopher Nolan had made the whole Dark Knight trilogy without an appearance by the Joker.
We may have to wait until next summer to know whether this means anything or not. “Man of Steel” stars Henry Cavill as Superman, with Amy Adams as Lois Lane and Michael Shannon as General Zod. Russell Crowe, Kevin Costner, Diane Lane, Laurence Fishburne, and Christopher Meloni are also in the cast. It was directed by Zack Snyder.
