Reminder to self: This is James Badge Dale.
More “Iron Man 3″ casting! And just in the nick of time, as the next installment in the saga is due to start filming in North Carolina this month. Variety reports that James Badge Dale will play Eric Savin/Coldblood.
What, who? Okay, non-Marvel experts, and that includes me, here’s the story:
“Dale will play Eric Savin. In the Marvel comicbooks, he’s a Lieutenant Colonel in the U.S. Army put in charge of Project: Ultra. After stepping on a land mine, cybernetic surgery is performed on him and he’s resurrected as the cyborg Coldblood.”
Oh, so it’s literally cold blood.
Dale is one of those names I see all the time but have a hard time connecting with a face and a role. He’s been in “Shame” and “The Grey,” but really has done a lot of TV, including “24,” “Rubicon,” and “The Pacific.” And eons ago, when he was a wee young thing, he was one of the unlucky fellows in the last adaptation of “Lord of the Flies.” He’s got a number of high profile movies on the way: “Flight,” “World War Z,” and “The Lone Ranger.” By the time “Iron Man 3″ hits the screen, hopefully even I should be able to identify him.
And that day for “Iron Man 3″ is May 3, 2013, by the way. The film stars Robert Downey Jr., Gwyneth Paltrow, Don Cheadle, Guy Pearce, Ben Kingsley and Rebecca Hall. Shane Black co-wrote the script with Drew Pearce. Black will direct.
