Harrison Ford will pack his whip and hat for the trip to Cannes.
Can’t wait until May 22nd for the first showing of Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull? Well, you might be able to catch it on the 18th…if you can get to the Cannes Film Festival.
Variety says that the red carpet debut for Indy 4 isn’t an absolute go because the festival doesn’t put out its official lineup until April. However, the cast has supposedly been notified to “pack their black-tie outfits for the French Riviera.”
(I find this part of the article hysterically funny. I mean, come on, does anyone think that Harrison Ford and Cate Blanchett have to be reminded to bring formal wear for Cannes? Not to mention that I think people just give Cate gowns anywhere she goes anyway. I’m sure even Shia LeBeouf has his own tux now and no longer has to go down to the mall to pick up the prom night rental. Saying, “pack their black-tie outfits” sounds like something you’d tell high school band members who are on their way to a trip to New York and need to be reminded to bring something nice to wear to a performance of Hairspray.)
Anyway, all this is great because this movie needs as much publicity as it can get and undoubtedly a Cannes premiere will finally push it into the public consciousness. I feel I can hold on until May 22nd to see the film on my home territory, but if someone wants to take me to Cannes, I’m all for it. I’ll even bring my black-tie outfit.
