Hulk 2? Leterrier’s There. Now. Ready to Go.

Hulk

Wait, do we know if Hulk wants to work again with Leterrier?

ComingSoon talked to The Incredible Hulk director Louis Leterrier at the film’s premiere and he waxed enthusiastic about doing another turn with the big green guy. He said:

“I’ll do another ‘Hulk’ movie any day of the week. I love it! I love the character, I love the TV show. I love that he’s an anti-hero…It starts with a great story and great cast. If you like movies, you’ll like ‘Hulk.”.

Wow! That’s like saying ”if you like chocolate, you’ll like candy!”

In reference to how his Hulk compares to the 2003 Ang Lee version, Leterrier said:

“It’s very different, [but] not because it has to be different because I love Ang’s movie. I think Ang’s movie is a superb movie and I felt comfortable taking on the task. At first it was really daunting and I was really afraid because Ang is an amazing director. I wanted to do the compliment of what Ang has done so it’s faster and more action.”

Hmm…I know he’s trying to be diplomatic and all, but would I be mean-spirited if I pointed out that if the 2003 film had been so wonderful and beloved, you wouldn’t have been asked to make another version?

And finally, not only is he up for Hulk, but also The Avengers, by the way. In fact, Leterrier says, “I’ll direct anything that Marvel puts out. I’m going to be camping out at the Marvel office to direct anything they want.”

You know, premieres and opening nights are big moments when everything seems wonderful and everyone is just so excited that they’re done with the project and it’s out for the world to see and the cast, director, and producers all love each other. That’s when you get to make bubbly statements like Leterrier did. But before we start talking sequel, it might be nice to see how this one does. I’m sure at the premiere for the 2003 Hulk movie, people were planning for a sequel too–certainly not a repudiation of their film as this new 2008 Hulk must surely be regarded.
