Janet McTeer will be in “The Woman in Black,” but will not be The Woman in Black.

Deadline reports that Ciaran Hinds and Janet McTeer will join the cast of “The Woman in Black.” Daniel Radcliffe is already set to star in the film adaptation of the book turned long-running play. Jane Goldman wrote the script from Susan Hill’s best-selling novel and James Watkins will direct.

(Look at that first paragraph. Have I made it clear enough that ”The Woman in Black” was a book AND a play, and did you get the name of the author of the book, the director, and the screenwriter? The only thing I couldn’t jam in was the author of the play version. That’s Stephen Mallatratt, just fyi.)

“The Woman in Black” is a Victorian-era set story about a young solicitor (Radcliffe) who is sent to attend to the estate of a recently deceased old woman. Hauntings, ghosts, and mysteries ensue. Hinds and McTeer will play locals who help out Radcliffe’s character. They will not, alas, haunt him.

Both Hinds and McTeer have worked in film and TV, bur are probably best known for their theater work. Hinds, as a celebrated British stage actor did do his legally required turn in a Harry Potter movie, playing Dumbledore’s brother. Hey, that means he knows Daniel Radcliffe.

This film is part of the well-thought out Radcliffe Plan to Prove He is Not Harry Potter and Is, In Fact, Grown Up. Shooting is expected to begin at the end of the month.
