Hill, Schwartzman Study “Adventurer’s Handbook”

Jonah Hill, adventurer.

Hey, kids, did you ever think to yourself, “That Jonah Hill was fine in supporting parts in movies like ‘Superbad’ and ‘Forgetting Sarah Marshall,’ but he can’t carry a movie”? Yes? No? Well, either way, Variety says Hill’s set up to handle a leading role, along with Jason Schwartzman in a movie called “The Adventurer’s Handbook.” Akiva Schaffer, the “SNL” director who made his feature debut last year with “Hot Rod,” is in negotiations to direct.

Hill, Matt Spicer, and Max Winkler wrote the script, which will spin a comic tale about four friends on a global adventure out of Mick Conefrey’s book of “hardcore stories of explorers.” So I guess that means where in the stories the explorers were tough and brave, they’ll be wacky and inept. Sounds like a good chance for Hill & Co. to travel to a bunch of places around the world, hang out, and make a movie.

Seriously, this doesn’t sound like a huge movie to mark your calendars for, but more like one of those August releases where they put the comedies with the B-level stars, so they don’t have to compete with the big summer action movies. Enjoy your trip, kids.
