Harry Potter and the Brand New Trailer

Harry, Ron, and Hermione looking for early reviews of their movie.
Yes, the Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince trailer is out and about. Here you go:
I’m just about the worst possible person to try to render a verdict on this, as I am not a fan of the HP books or movies. Yes, I know, that’s grounds for being excommunicated from the world, but oh well. I didn’t read the Half-Blood Prince as I gave up feigning any interest in the series around book 3, so after looking at the trailer, I checked in with a friend who’s read all of them. I said that from the trailer, it looks like the whole movie (and presumably book?) is about Tom Riddle, but she said that’s not even close to the main story in the book (if there is a main story; she said most of the book was just treading water to get to the 7th; I report, you decide). But really, did you notice that there’s only one shot of Dan Radcliffe/Harry Potter in the trailer? Doesn’t it seem all about this Tom Riddle guy? I should note, as you undoubtedly know, that he’s being played by Hero Fiennes-Tiffin who is the nephew of Ralph Fiennes. Since apparently Tom Riddle grows up into Voldemort, Uncle Ralph’s role, this is very a propos (and btw, if you have a chance to see Ralph Fiennes do a play, run to it; he’s a very good movie actor, but a fantastic stage actor). Plus it looks like the kid has some of the family talent. Maybe that’s why they featured him in the trailer? He seems to be quite young, but looks like he’s already doing better than a lot of the other kids in the casts of these movies.
Anyway, Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince will open on November 21st in regular and IMAX theaters, undoubtedly to the cheers of millions of adoring fans.
