More news from Cinema Expo, courtesy of ComingSoon–the new poster for the movie released at the Expo in Amsterdam show that the title is not just GI Joe, but GI Joe: Rise of Cobra. That’s the kind of title that says, “Here’s where it all begins, here is Cobra, here is why they are bad, and guess what? There’s going to be more!” Doesn’t it just cry out prepping for a sequel? I’m seeing a “Revenge of Cobra,” or “Return of Cobra” in the future.
(btw, note the “Duke” feature on the poster; speculation is that there will be a rollout of a series of posters featuring different characters.)
By the way, don’t rush out to try to nab the domain name; Hasbro has already registered www.GIJoeriseofcobra.com. Make room on your shelves for the new action figures, though.
GI Joe: Rise of Cobra stars Dennis Quaid, Sienna Miller, Ray Park, Rachel Nichols, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje, Said Taghmaoui, Marlon Wayans, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Arnold Vosloo and Christopher Eccleston. It’s scheduled to open on August 7, 2009.
