GI Joe Casting News: Quaid and Tatum Enlist

Channing Tatum

You’re in the army now, Tatum.

Oh, what would we do without GI Joe casting news (especially now that Justice League isn’t here to kick around anymore)? Today’s news is actually news, though, with word from Variety that the key role of Duke is going to be played by Channing Tatum. In addition, Dennis Quaid has been cast as “grizzled team leader” General Hawk.

The part of Duke was originally rumored for Sam Worthington, but he’s stuck on James Cameron’s Avatar, which is, unsurprisingly, running behind schedule. Tatum had been slated for Oliver Stone’s Pinkville, but that’s been shelved indefinitely. That small debacle aside, Tatum’s doing well these days, with roles in the upcoming Fighting and Stop Loss. He’s also one of the lucky fellows cast in Michael Mann’s Public Enemies. Dennis Quaid has been busy being Dennis Quaid.

Tatum and Quaid join a GI Joe cast of thousands, including so far: Marlon Wayans, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Ray Park, Rachel Nichols, Sienna Miller, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje, and Said Taghmaoui.
