George Miller Leaves Mystical Justice League Movie

JLA movie

The JLA movie should just give up on the live casting and go with 3D animation

Somewhat like the Yeti and the Loch Ness Monster, the Justice League of America movie hovers in that netherworld of things we hear about but never quite believe in. Derailed last year by the writers’ strike (or at least that was the convenient excuse) after seemingly endless casting and rewrite controversies, the film is still supposedly in the works–just with no timetable or anything. I also have socks lost at the laundromat that I know are out there, but have no idea when they’ll return.

Now another loss might added to the JLA epic (really, the making or not making of this movie is far more interesting than any actual movie will possibly be)–director George Miller may be off the project. The MTV Splash Page reports, via an unfindable link at Dark Horizons, that Miller will no longer be directing. Apparently it had something to do with casting–Miller told an Australian morning show that if the film is going to get made, it would likely be recast because “the studios seem to want bigger stars in their superhero movies now.”

So it would seem that Armie Hammer and Megan Gale do not set studio execs’ hearts afire. That of course is presuming that studio execs have hearts. So if they were going to recast with bigger names, who would you want? You’ve got to think that they would try to trade Megan Gale for Megan Fox, and Armie Hammer for, oh, I don’t know…Chace Crawford. Wait, I think I’m giving myself a headache. They probably should just cast that kid who’s co-starring with Viggo in The Road; he’ll be an adult by the time they’re ready to begin shooting. As for who should direct, well, Guillermo del Toro might be available when they get this rolling in 2023.
