Gemma Arterton will play The Love Interest in "Runner Runner."
Variety says that Gemma Arterton (who I will someday stop confusing with Hayley Atwell) has joined the cast of “Runner Runner.” Ben Affleck and Justin Timberlake are already set to star, with Brad Furman directing.
Here’s the story:
Timberlake plays a Princeton student cheated out of his tuition money playing online poker who ends up the right-hand man of the site’s corrupt boss (Affleck). Arterton plays Timberlake’s love interest.”
Is Timberlake’s character working on his Ph.D? I’m not suggesting that Timberlake is a wizened old man, but he is 31. I mean, he doesn’t look ancient by any means, but he also does NOT look like a 21 year old. Especially a 21 year old who is naive enough to blow all his money playing online poker like a Catholic school girl getting wasted on three vodka shots at her first frat party.
Arterton will next be seen in the vampire movie “Byzantium,” with Saiorse Ronan and Sam Riley, and “Song for Marion,” with Vanessa Redgrave and Christopher Eccleston. In 2013, we may finally see Arterton and Jeremy Renner in the long delayed “Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters.”
