‘Friends’ Movie Now Likely After Success Of ‘Sex and The City’ Film

‘Friends’ Movie Possible Within 18 Months

Friends finished airing years ago, at least new episodes, with the tenth and final season hitting the screen way back in 2004. However, the show is still on television every day somewhere in the world, and here in the UK, there are two episodes shown a day and they still get great ratings.

This is no surprise when there are people like me around, people who despite having seen every episode at least 2 or 3 times, continues to watch every day and deliver the lines almost before the characters do. So with that kind of popularity still present to this day, it’s no surprise to hear that a Friends movie is being planned.

According to the Daily Mail, the movie, which has been rumoured for years, is finally going to be made, with Jennifer Aniston being the last of the six lead actors to sign on the dotted line. She is said to have dragged her heels until now due to thinking she is just too big to revisit the character of Rachel Green.

What has reportedly changed her mind is the phenomenal success of the Sex and The City movie, and how it has brought Sarah Jessica-Parker more fame and fortune than ever before. The film has so far made over $300 million at the box-office, and DVD sales are sure to push that even higher.

A Friends movie would surely be even more well received, as it had more fans than SATC, and more widespread appeal than it also. I mean, I’m a guy and I liked Friends, enough said. I really hope this project actually happens and doesn’t end up stalling at the planning stages due to a petty argument over money or credits.
