Frank Miller Eyes ‘Buck Rogers’

Buck Rogers

Frank Miller is a comic book genius, having created Daredevil, Elektra, Sin City and 300. he also directed recently released The Spirit. And now, according to The Hollywood Reporter, he is preparing to turn his attention to Buck Rogers, a classic sci-fi character desperately in need of a modern makeover.

It’s thought that Miller will write and direct his own take on Buck Rogers, a comic serial that hasn’t really had the treatment it deserves on television or film. Miller’s take on the character is likely to be darker, more brooding, and overall a great improvement on anything we’ve seen before.

Miller is thought to have only just begun to sketch out ideas about what he wants to do with the property but corruption and redemption, two of Miller’s favorite subject matters are highly likely to figure. This may well now take precedence over the long-awaited and much-rumored Sin City sequel.

I can think of no-one better to turn Buck Rogers back into a viable comic book hero from the much-parodied shadow he has become over the years. Miller’s work on 300 and Sin City has made me a huge fan so if this project gets off the ground and into cinemas, I’m definitely interested.
