Forget The Oscars – Paris Hilton and Mike Myers Win Big At The Razzies

Unless you’ve been living under a rock for the last few months only to have recently emerged into the cruel world once again, you’ll know tonight is Oscars night, with the 81st annual Academy Awards taking place in Los Angeles. But we don’t care about that do we? Surely The Razzies is where the action is at…

The 29th Annual Golden Raspberry Awards took place last night, on the eve of the Oscars as is traditional. The full list of winners is printed below, and as you can see, the people who should be hanging their heads in shame right about now are triple winners Mike Myers and Paris Hilton.

Worst Picture – The Love Guru
Worst Actor – Mike Myers
Worst Actress – Paris Hilton (The Hottie & The Nottie)
Worst Supporting Actor – Pierce Brosnan (Mamma Mia!)
Worst Supporting Actress – Paris Hilton (Repo! The Genetic Opera)
Worst Screen Couple – Paris Hilton (The Hottie & The Nottie)
Worst Screenplay – The Love Guru by Mike Myers, Graham Gordy
Worst Director – Uwe Boll
Worst Prequel, Remake, Rip-off or Sequel – Indiana Jones 4

I announced the nominees for the 2008 Razzies in January, and tried my hand at predicting the winners. Unfortunately, I didn’t get one correct. Oops. Not that it really matters who actually won because even being nominated means you’ve made one of the worst films or put in one of the worst performances of the year.

I’m happy with all the winners except Indiana Jones 4 winning ‘Worst Sequel’, and Pierce Brosnan winning ‘Worst Supporting Actor’ for Mamma Mia!. They weren’t actually that bad were they? But Mike Myers and Paris Hilton deserve everything they get – even I cannot defend those films.
