Ford Talks Indy, Ryan, Other Plans

Indiana Jones and the Search for a Good Script

I always loved Harrison Ford. Did I love Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull? No. But I loved seeing Harrison Ford in it.

So luckily for me, it looks like Mr. Ford will be gracing our screens in numerous projects over the next few years, though there’s no reason to have confidence that they’ll be better than some of the clunkers he’s turned up in recently (Firewall…so sad). The MTV Movie Blog spoke with Ford about his future projects.

  • Regarding a fifth Indy movie, he just says that he knows George Lucas is looking for an idea, and when they find one, well, they’ll proceed from there (hint to Mr. Lucas–find a good one);
  • As reported earlier this year, Ford is set to star in  Crowley, about the real-life story of John and Aileen Crowley, whose two children suffered from a rare genetic disorder. Ford would play a medical researcher in this one (some advice–find another title);
  • Ford thinks he could still make a contribution as Jack Ryan: ““I think it’s a character I could easily play at this point if people were interested in seeing what happens to Jack Ryan as his life progresses.” (You know, I actually agree–I’d be more into seeing how the aging Jack Ryan worked in the 21st century rather than watch the character churned through another succession of pretty young boys).
  • He has a project with JJ Abrams set up to go: “Morning Glory” a film Ford was rumored to be interested in a year ago. Now we have confirmation from the man himself that he’ll star in this Aline Brosh McKenna script that according to EW.com is about “a struggling female news producer who recruits an iconic, egotistical anchorman to revive a failing network’s morning show.” Reese Witherspoon was the rumored leading lady when the initial rumors surfaced.” Those rumors are, however, a year old, so there’s no clue as to whether Witherspoon is or was interested. It’s kind of a decent idea for a plot–Ford would be playing what we might call “the Alec Baldwin role.” However, the JJ Abrams part worries me–I hear his name, and I don’t exactly think “comedy!”

Well, it’s nice to hear about all these projects for Mr. Ford. Now how many will actually get done? And be decent? One wonders and worries.
