Final Scene In ‘Casablanca’ Voted Most Romantic Moment In Cinema History

Hmm, romantic films eh, they’re not my cup of tea usually, maybe because I’m male, and don’t like to cry over things I see on the TV or movie screens. But I must admit to not only knowing, but also liking a lot of the scenes chosen for this recently announced Most Romantic Moment In Cinema.

CNN conducted the poll to find what most of us considered as the most lovey dovey and possibly weepy moments we have ever seen in a film, and the results speak for themselves.

The final scene shared between Humphrey Bogart and Ingrid Bergman in black and white classic Casablanca secured the number one spot, and rightly so, even managing to get me tilting my head and fawning when I see it.

Virginia Cherrill and Charlie Chaplin’s love scene from City Lights came second, a scene I’ve never actually seen, but I’d assume there’s a lot of slapstick comedy, with a bit of romantic undercurrent thrown in for good measure.

Roman Holiday took third, for the moment Gregory Peck teases Audrey Hepburn at the Mouth of Truth.

The following films were voted as having The Top 10 Most Romantic Moments In Cinema:

1. Casablanca
2. City Lights
3. Roman Holiday
4. From Here to Eternity
5. Amelie
6. Annie Hall
7. La Dolce Vita
8. Before Sunrise
9. Lost in Translation
10. When Harry Met Sally
