What president will Ben Stiller meet at the Smithsonian?
Fox has announced it’s 2009 summer schedule, and in so doing confirmed plans for a sequel to last year’s hit, Night at the Museum.
The major move on the schedule is that James Cameron’s 3-D epic (I say epic because it’s James Cameron–does he do anything other than epic?) Avatar will shift from Memorial Day weekend to December 18. The new Museum movie will take over the May holiday weekend slot. X-Men Origins: Wolverine, starring Hugh Jackman will start off the summer slate. Ice Age 3, also in 3D, will open on July 1st.
Sean Levy and Ben Stiller will be back as director and star respectively of Night at the Museum 2: Escape from the Smithsonian. This will be the first major film shot at the Washington, DC, museum complex. Some characters will return from the first film , but the sequel will also introduce new historical figures. Supposedly Reese Witherspoon has been approached about playing Amelia Earhart.
I guess it’s possible to find someone who bears less resemblance to Amelia Earhart than Reese Witherspoon, but it would be tough. But this is Hollywood, not history class, and so I guess this is what we have to live with.
