“Fantastic Four,” “Daredevil” Get Reboots

Sorry, you're out.

Remember the two “Fantastic Four” movies Fox made in 2005 and 2007? I’m sure you do…barely. The movies did okay at the box office but had none of the impact of other superhero movies of the period. So why not try again? Especially if the rights to the characters will revert to Marvel if you don’t do something with them? Yeah, that’s a big part of it.

Deadline reports that Fox has set Josh Trank to direct a new “Fantastic Four” film. Trank had a nice little success with this spring’s “Chronicle,” and was in high demand. This is the project he chose, though, so let the casting rumors begin.

Another reboot that needs to be done fast is “Daredevil.” Fox needs to start working on that movie in the fall or it will lose the rights. They’ve got a script they like and thought they had a director they liked, David Slade, but he suddenly dropped out due to his commitment to the TV series “Hannibal.” So, anyone have some free time this fall? Hey, what about Ben Affleck? Let him give it a shot on the other side of the camera.
