Fair Game: Kidman To Take the Plame?

Post baby, will Nicole go undercover?
From the time the story began to leak out, the whole Valerie Plame saga just seemed made for movies. Diplomat’s wife who’s also a CIA undercover agent? Of course! And the fact that she’s an elegant blonde who looks like she’d be equally at home at an elegant dinner party or at the shooting range didn’t hurt.
Warner Brothers snatched up the rights to Plame’s memoir, Fair Game, last year. In an interview with the MTV movie blog, director Doug Liman waxed excited on his ideal star for the film:
“Nicole Kidman…She’s perfect if you’ve ever met Valerie [well, Doug, actually most of us haven’t…]. Nicole was supposed to play Jane Smith in ‘Mr. and Mrs. Smith.’ We owe a movie together! That’s an unrequited thing between me and an actor where I fell in love with them for a role and never get to consummate it.”
Calm down, Doug! And Nicole, if you’re listening (and I’m sure you are), this sounds like a good part for you. Liman’s shown he can direct a spy-action-thriller type movie. And, to be honest, you could use a hit. So I’d advise you to look at this seriously.
Casting aside, there are issues with this project, most notably that Plame’s memoir had suffered from heavy censorship by the CIA. Doug, do you have any plans for dealing with these kind of restrictions?
“I have a really, really insane take on how to tell it. It’s so outrageous,” Liman enthused. “Ultimately, I’d be doing something no one has ever done before. Therefore it’s automatically appealing to me. I’m just starting to explore whether [what I have in mind] is even possible to do.”
Is it even possible? Doug, Paris Hilton has been cast in several movies. Anything is possible.
