Vampires are kind of cool, in a sadistic, bloodthirsty, serial killer kind of way. I get that. But that doesn’t mean they should be put in every movie possible, no matter how “in” they are right now.
I quite like the Twilight movies. I know that really isn’t right for a 30-something heterosexual male to admit, but I’m naturally truthful. However, the writer of the books they are based on has rewritten the vampire legend to suit her own needs. Which sucks.
But it doesn’t suck nearly as much as the way Hollywood has grabbed on to the current penchant for vampires and run with it in a big way. And The Legend Of Cain is the straw that broke the camel’s back for me personally.
This is a new project for Will Smith detailed a few days ago. As the name suggests, the film is a re-telling of the bible story of the two brothers Cain and Abel, and how the former killed the latter. So far, so totally uninteresting.
But wait. The vampires will surely liven things up a little. That’s right, they’re throwing vampires in there somewhere, somehow.
I’m sorry but that’s a step too far. Enough with the vampires, sparkly or otherwise.
