Empire Awards Winners and Losers - ‘Atonement’ Does It Again

The fifth annual Empire Awards were held in London last night, this time sponsored by Sony Ericsson, and continuing the trend of the last few months, Atonement again won big.

Atonement was voted Best British Film, while its two leading stars, Keira Knightley and James McAvoy, won Best Actress and Best Actor respectively.

The Bourne Ultimatum was the other big winner, securing Best Film, and Matt Damon was even there to accept the award in person, which is rare for a British awards ceremony.

Other noted celebrities from the film industry who were in attendance included Ewan McGregor, Emma Watson, James McAvoy, Simon Pegg and Rupert Everett, while Pan’s Labyrinth director Guillermo del Toro picked up an Empire Inspiration Award.

Atonement was a great flick, it looks and feels a lot like Pride and Prejudice… come to think of it, both movies have the same director, leading lady, both are based on books and both take place in England
