Emma Watson may need to find her sea legs.
More Noah casting! After hearing earlier this week that Douglas Booth and Logan Lerman had signed on for the ark cruise, we now have word from Deadline that Emma Watson is also in talks to join the cast. Darren Aronofsky is directing the epic, which features Russell Crowe in the title role. Jennifer Connelly is reportedly the frontrunner to play Noah’s wife (hey, she’s played Crowe’s wife before, in “A Beautiful Mind”).
Aronofsky’s film is an adaptation of the Bible story of Noah and the flood. Watson would play Ila, a girl who becomes the love interest of Booth’s character, Shem, one of Noah’s sons. Lerman plays another son, Ham. That was a different age of names, indeed. Not a Trevor or Madison in sight.
I had been seeing Saiorse Ronan’s name on cast lists for this movie in some outlets, but not others. I’ve got to think that that would have been in reference to the same role as Watson. I just don’t know if her name just came up as part of a pure rumor, or if she was seriously involved and then didn’t sign on due to scheduling or some other issue.
Watson will be seen this fall in “The Perks of Being a Wallflower” and “The Bling Ring” next year.
“Noah” is set to be released on March 28, 2014.
