Elizabeth Banks Shows “What’s the Matter with Margie?”

Elizabeth Banks will run out of patience.

Cannes’t get enough!! News from Cannes, that is. Now Deadline brings us word from the Croisette that Elizabeth Banks will star in “What’s the Matter with Margie?” a dark comedy written by Alan Ball. We would be shocked if Alan Ball brought us a light comedy.

Ball, the creator of “True Blood” and “Six Feet Under,” and the writer of “American Beauty,” will have one of his “True Blood” directors, Daniel Minahan, direct this one. It’s about “a downtrodden office-worker who after years of abuse finally snaps and resorts to murdering her tormenters.” Banks will play said office-worker. Well, if anything’s going to drive you to murder, it would be working in an office. Just kidding, cubicle dwelling friends!

Banks is in “What to Expect When You’re Expecting,” which opens today. Later this summer she’ll be seen in “People Like Us” and “Red Band,” the compilation of comedy shorts. She’s set to appear in “Frank or Francis,” Charlie Kaufman’s next directorial effort.
