Ed Helms Gets Busy

By Kirsten Anderson Casting

Ed Helms is in demand.

Ed Helms, like his predecessor at “The Office,” Steve Carell, is busy carving out a career on the big screen while keeping his day job on the small screen. Deadline reports that Helms has booked two film roles, in “They Came Together” and “We’re the Millers.”

“They Came Together” is from David Wain and Michael Showalter, and is said to be a satire of romantic comedies. That is like shooting fish in the proverbial barrel. Amy Poehler stars as “a small-business owner being crushed by a larger concern” and Helms plays her accountant and love interest. Well, that forms a group of comedy pros. What can go wrong? Hey, it’s a movie–everything. Still, the odds look good.

“We’re the Millers” will be directed by Rawston Thurber and stars Jason Sudeikis and Jennifer Aniston. According to ComingSoon, it’s about “a team of criminals that pose as an average American family in order to smuggle marijuana across the country in an RV.” Helms will play Brad, the boss of Sudeikis’ character. This is more of a cameo role, which is good because “They Came Together” shoots in July and “The Office” begins shooting its next season on July 30th. And then Helms is making “The Hangover Part III” starting on September 16th. See? When I titled this “Ed Helms Gets Busy” I wasn’t exaggerating.
