Dreams Come True: Disney Classics Coming to Blu-ray

I’ve always had a crush on Pinocchio.
If you’re a Disney fan, your Blu-ray collection is about to get a boost. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the previously announced first Platinum Collection Blu-ray disk, Sleeping Beauty, will be joined by five other Disney classics.
Sleeping Beauty is set to be released this October 7th. The next five will arrive as follows:
- 2009: Pinocchio and Snow White
- 2010: Fantasia and Fantasia 2000 (okay, maybe not all classics…), Beauty and the Beast
Each film will be available for a limited time only. They will come with bonus material, including “rare, behind the scenes footage.”
Disney’s BD Live network, which wil feature chat rooms and video messaging, will be launched in the US with the release of Sleeping Beauty. It will be available world wide with the release of Snow White.
Destino, a film begun by Disney and Salvador Dali in 1946 will be released along with the Platinum Collection discs. The film was found in 2003; Roy Disney completed it.
In related news, ComingSoon says, via The Hollywood Reporter, that Wall*E, the critical and box office success of the summer, will be released on DVD on November 18th. It will be available in single and triple disc versions. Both will include a digital copy of the film that can be downloaded onto mobile devices. The triple disc version will include “special features about the film’s robot heroes, including Web vignettes and an interactive storybook, and a detailed documentary about Pixar.”
Well, that last one will make this 3-Disc set a must-have for any self-respecting nine year old. And how great–this is all coming out in time for the holidays!
